Elder Leaders & Younger Generations

What elder leaders (the malignant ones in particular) don’t understand is that younger generations don’t have to be caught up with their past.  The lives of younger generations are not (or shouldn’t be) a continuation of the lives of older generations.  Younger generations don’t exist to continue with and settle the scores of the past.  Time moves on and things and relationships change.  This will inevitably happen but elder leaders like Donald Trump don’t have to treat the present as though it is an unchanged continuation of the past.  They don’t have to drag the world of the past with them and carry it into the present.  They don’t have to perpetuate the ills of the past as though they are unchangeable and a required inheritance that must be passed on to younger generations.  Now is not the time, for example, to be dealing with the Iran or America of the 1940’s or 50s or 80s or whatever time.  Now is the time for living and dealing with things as they are now.  Older generations should not assume that the people of younger generations will be continuing and carrying on the status quo of the past.

Younger generations need and benefit from the experience and wisdom of their elders (the good ones), but elder generations also have to understand that younger generations are not living in the world of their past.  Life must move forward and while the slates of the past cannot just disappear overnight, they must allow the present to exist in its own right.  Wise elders should understand this.  The time comes for elders to share their insight and wisdom while also letting younger generations lead the way.
